- 1945
Founded by H.B. Hightower in Bremen, Georgia, as Hightower Funeral Home, providing ambulance service as part of the service offerings - 1973
Became the first licensed ambulance service in Haralson County - 1995
Separated ambulance service from funeral business and merged with Miller Ambulance Service to form the first countywide ambulance service as Ambucare. Founder’s grandson, Bill Hightower, and his wife, Susan assumed leadership. - 2002
Became the second ambulance agency in the state of Georgia to be accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services (CAAS), a status proudly maintained since. - 2004
Established critical care ambulance program and the company began its annual in-house critical care training program. - 2021
Joined Priority Ambulance family of companies, the largest private ambulance service in Georgia. - TODAY
Ambucare EMS has more than 45 EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers & support staff serving their patients each year with 6 ambulances and emergency vehicles.
Service Area
Ambucare EMS is proud to provide Critical Care transportation to Haralson, Polk, and Paulding counties. Ambucare also provides interfacility transportation services to Carroll, Heard, Troup, and Douglas counties, respectively.

More than half of the company’s 610,000 annual patient transports are in response to a public call to 9-1-1, while the balance of our transports originate through requests from health care facilities. Throughout its national service area, approximately 4,100 highly trained paramedics and EMTs staff a fleet of 830 state-of-the-art ambulances and support vehicles with the latest medical equipment and technology.
